Pharmacy Technicians work under the direction of a licensed pharmacist and perform technical and clerical duties in the pharmacy. The technician may measure, mix, count out, label, and record amounts/dosages of medications according to prescription orders. Under the direction of a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician will prepare medications. Pharmacy Technicians may work in hospitals, pharmaceutical laboratories, mail order pharmacies or in retail settings, such as CVS, Walgreens and local grocery stores.
