Provides trainees with the ability to identify and interpret civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical drawings. With hands on learning, trainees will have the ability to confirm accurate dimensions, generate RFI’s (Request for Information), locate plumbing entry points, and establish piping routes and fixture locations.
The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is a non-profit foundation developed with the support of more than 125 construction CEOs and academic leaders to provide nationally recognized training, assessment, and certification standards for the construction trades. The NCCER Core Certification is a prerequisite to all other NCCER construction trade training certifications. The curriculum provides each trainee the basic skills needed to continue his or her education in a chosen craft area.
According to the Texas Workforce Commission, the state-wide annual number of job openings for carpenters and plumbers is expected to exceed 3,000 individuals through 2024. These individuals can earn a starting wage of $18 - $20 per hour.
The Principles of Plumbing program at Blinn College is conducted at the RELLIS Campus, 3100 Hwy 47, Bldg 7901, Bryan, Texas 77807. The program consists of 200 hours of training leading to a Certificate of Completion from Blinn and an OSHA 10 credential. Upon completion of the program, students have the option to attend an additional day of class to test for the National Center for Construction Education (NCCER) Core credential exam.
