Vocational Nursing Program

The Occupational Skills Award in Nurse Aide meets the didactic and clinical requirements established by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services for a nurse aide training and competency evaluation program. Upon successful completion of this award, students are eligible to sit for the Texas Nurse Aide examination to become certified as a Nurse Aide.

These courses are designed to introduce students to the field of nursing and also provide an opportunity to explore other health care programs at Blinn College. Nurse aides primarily work in long term care nursing facilities, and some students choose this route to gain hands-on experience to enhance their interest in the nursing field and further their education therein.

The Blinn College Vocational Nursing Program is designed to provide students with the education and training needed to become highly-skilled nurses capable of working in a variety of medical settings. Available on the Brenham and Bryan campuses, the Program consists of classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences. The Program is accredited by the Texas Board of Nursing, 333 Guadalupe, #3-460, Austin, TX 78701, (512) 305-7400, FAX (512) 305-7401.

More information is available online either through the Vocational Nursing Program – Brenham Campus website or through the Vocational Nursing Program – Bryan Campus website. Applied Sciences award plans.
