This is a combined lecture/lab, performance-based course designed to develop students’ reading comprehension, vocabulary, and academic writing skills by teaching the fundamentals of written language that contributes to clear, concise, well-organized sentences, paragraphs, and essays. Emphasis is placed on improving reading efficiency and recognition and comprehension of implied or stated purpose of a text. This course fulfills TSI requirements for level I reading and writing (previously developmental ENGL 320 .and READ 305 ). This is a course with a required lab. Prerequisite(s): Appropriate scores on the TSIA for READ 305  and ENGL 320  or completion of READ 304  with a grade of “C” or better. Co-enrolled: Students enrollilng in DIRW 0325 must also enroll in EDUC 1300   Notes: International students should see paired co-requisite courses ESOL 335  and ESOL 324 .
