Credit Hours:4 Lecture Hours:3 Lab Hours:2 Contact Hour Total:80 Introduction to American Sign Language covering finger spelling, vocabulary, and basic sentence structure in preparing individuals to interpret oral speech for the hearing impaired. This course is conducted, mainly, without voice. It focuses on sign vocabulary, numbers, finger spelling, and deaf culture. Emphasis is placed on the enhancement of both receptive and expressive skills and on the application of rudimentary syntactical structure.
Prerequisite(s):SGNL 1401 or permission of the department head.
