This degree offers a solid foundation in the creative and technical aspects of music. Students receive training in music theory, history, composition, and performance. Courses expand a student’s knowledge of music styles as they learn about different cultures and their music. They may also take part in a variety of workshops or performances. Moreover, it allows the student who is interested in a career in music to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college/university, or their own professional playing career.

Core Component: 42 Credit Hours


Communication: 6 Credit Hours


Choose Two (2):

Mathematics: 3 Credit Hours


If any overflow hours are earned from Math or Life and Physical Sciences, they will be applied to the Component Area Option.

Choose One (1):

Life and Physical Sciences: 6 Credit Hours


If any overflow hours are earned from Math or Life and Physical Sciences, they will be applied to the Component Area Option.

Choose a minimum of Six (6) Hours:

American History: 6 Credit Hours


Choose Two (2):

Government/Political Science: 6 Credit Hours


Component Area Option: 6 Credit Hours


If any overflow hours are earned from Math or Life and Physical Sciences, they will be applied to the Component Area Option.

Choose Two (2) courses equaling six (6) hours unless overflow hours from Life and Physical Sciences/ Mathematics are used:

Academic Electives: 6 Credit Hours


General Academic Electives: 6 Credit Hours


  • Choose six (6) credit hours from ARTS, ARCH, MUSI, DRAM Excluding courses taken from Core Curriculum choices.

Area of Concentration: 12 Credit Hours


Music: 12 Credit Hours


  • Choose any combination of MUSI courses to equal 12 credit hours; excluding courses taken as Core Curriculum or Academic Electives.

Total Hours for Degree: 60 Credit Hours
