Criminal Justice, Field of Study AA

This degree prepares students to successfully transfer into a four year college/university and pursue a degree in Criminal Justice. The Field of Study (FOS) provides a more extensive emphasis on specific criminal justice courses than the traditional Associate of Arts degree. It is an intensive study of the methodologies and techniques used in law enforcement and the criminal justice system. This curriculum applies to institutions that award the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees with a major in criminal justice, including all criminal justice specializations. The FOS includes fifteen (15) designated semester credit hours and six (6) discretionary semester credit hours in the field of criminal justice.

Note: FOS transfers to all state colleges/universities.

Core Component: 39 Credit Hours


Communication: 6 Credit Hours


Choose Two (2):

Mathematics: 3 Credit Hours


If any overflow hours are earned from Math or Life and Physical Sciences, they will be applied to the Component Area Option.

Choose One (1):

Life and Physical Sciences: 6 Credit Hours


If any overflow hours are earned from Math or Life and Physical Sciences, they will be applied to the Component Area Option.

Choose a minimum of Six (6) Hours:

American History: 6 Credit Hours


Choose Two (2):

Government/Political Science: 6 Credit Hours


Component Area Option: 3 Credit Hours


If any overflow hours are earned from Math or Life and Physical Sciences, they will be applied to the Component Area Option.

Choose One (1) course equaling three (3) hours unless overflow hours from Life and Physical Sciences and Mathematics are used:
