Child Development Program

The recipient of this award who has completed additional child development courses in the Child Care Worker Certificate and has experience in a licensed child‐care facility will meet and exceed the DFPS educational requirements established for a director of a licensed child‐care center (pages 31‐32 of the June 2015 Minimum Standards for Child‐Care Centers). Students interested must have at least 1 year of experience in child care, have completed 6 hours of child development coursework (TECA 1311 /CDEC 1311  and CDEC 1313 ) and have approval of the Child Development Program Coordinator before beginning this award.

If you have a love for children and are committed to helping them grow and develop in the best environment possible, then you will find a career in the child care profession rewarding. Graduates of the Blinn College Child Development Program will be qualified to enter positions as teachers in public and private child care facilities and other early childhood programs. Child care workers continue to be in high demand as more parents and caregivers enter the workforce and need quality care for their children.
