The Criminal Justice Program is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, corrections, and the court system. The Program combines classroom instruction with real world experience. Students are provided with targeted training to enhance their professional opportunities with local, county, and state agencies.

The Blinn College Board of Trustees approved expanding the college’s Criminal Justice Program to include training at the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Central Texas Police Academy in Bryan, Texas. The partnership allows Blinn College Criminal Justice students to receive seventeen weeks of practical training with law enforcement props, equipment, and apparatus in addition to the usual classroom instruction.

For enrollment in one of the TEEX partnership academies, the below fees will be charged for the Police Academy. Blinn College will waive general tuition and fees for these courses, and only charge the listed academy fee. Enrollment in the TEEX partnership academies through Blinn College is limited. Contact the individual Program Coordinator/Director to be placed on the list for enrollment for your preferred semester and to discuss requirements for attendance. NOTE: Academy courses are taught in block format only. To successfully complete an Academy, all courses listed for that Academy must be enrolled at the same time and passed with the noted minimum grades (see Program websites for details).

Police Academy (CJLE 1506, CJLE 1512, CJLE 1518, CJLE 1524)

                $4,725.00 per student per semester

More information is available online through the Criminal Justice Program website. Applied Sciences award plans.

In order for a student to receive college credit for up to twenty (20) hours of experiential learning, the individual must show documentation of the successful completion of a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) approved police academy – 1985 to the present – and proof of passing the Texas Peace Officer Exam. A student that attended a TCOLE approved police academy prior to 1985 will need to meet with the Program Coordinator to discuss experiential learning credit options. The courses for which credit will be granted are: CJLE 1506 , CJLE 1512 , CJLE 1518 , and CJLE 1524 . These courses may only be applied to the Law Enforcement Technology AAS degree.
