This degree prepares students by providing the academic foundation necessary to successfully transfer and pursue baccalaureate degrees in education that lead to initial Texas teacher certification. This degree has two additional science courses for transfer beyond those required in the Associate of Arts in Education, as well as four education courses beyond the Core Curriculum.

Core Component: 42 Credit Hours


Communication: 6 Credit Hours


Choose Two (2):

Mathematics: 3 Credit Hours


If any overflow hours are earned from Math or Life and Physical Sciences, they will be applied to the Component Area Option.

Choose One (1):

Life and Physical Sciences: 6 Credit Hours


If any overflow hours are earned from Math or Life and Physical Sciences, they will be applied to the Component Area Option.

Choose a minimum of Six (6) Hours:

Language, Philosophy, Culture: 3 Credit Hours


Choose One (1):

American History: 6 Credit Hours


Choose Two (2):

Government/Political Science: 6 Credit Hours


Component Area Option: 6 Credit Hours


If any overflow hours are earned from Math or Life and Physical Sciences, they will be applied to the Component Area Option.

Choose Two (2) courses equaling six (6) hours unless overflow hours from Life and Physical Sciences are used:

Academic Electives: 6 Credit Hours


General Academic Electives: 6 Credit Hours

Area of Concentration: 12 Credit Hours


Total Hours for Degree: 60 Credit Hours


***MATH 1314  will fulfill Blinn College AS requirements, but may or may not fulfill some universities’ College of Education degree plan requirements. Students must see an adviser for specific course options.
