DIRW 0326 Developmental Integrated Reading and Writing

DIRW 0326 is a combined lecture/lab, performance-based course designed to develop students’ critical reading and academic writing skills. The focus of the course will be on applying critical reading skills for organizing, analyzing, and retaining material and developing written work appropriate to the audience, purpose, situation, and length of the assignment. The course integrates preparation in basic academic reading skills with basic skills in writing a variety of academic essays. The course fulfills TSI requirements for level II reading and writing (previously developmental ENGL 321 and READ 306). This is a course with a required lab.
Prerequisite(s): Appropriate scores on the TSIA for READ 306 and ENGL 321 or completion of DIRW 0325 with a grade of “C” or better or completion of both ENGL 320 and READ 305 with grades of “C” or better.
